Door Supervisor – Top Up Training

Highfield Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Top Up) (Scotland) is compulsory training for those who are seeking to renew their SIA Door Supervisors Licence. The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has made the upskilling door supervisor course a prerequisite qualification to apply for Door Supervisor license renewal.
Top up Door Supervisor training will meet the mandatory SIA refresher training requirement for Door Supervisors who wish to renew their licence. After completing the SIA top up course, qualified learners will be eligible to apply to SIA to renew their license.
This qualification consists of the following units:
- Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in The Private Security Industry
- Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in The Private Security Industry
- Application of Physical Intervention Skills in The Private Security Industry
Unit 1 – Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in The Private Security Industry
This unit is assessed by a 10-question multiple-choice examination. The examination duration is 20 minutes. Learners must achieve a score of at least 70% to pass.
Unit 2 – Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in The Private Security Industry
This unit is assessed by a 5-question multiple-choice examination. The examination duration is 10 minutes. Learners must achieve a score of at least 70% to pass. This unit also includes a practical assessment that involves observation of using communications devices. The practical assessment for each learner must be visually recorded and is recommended to take approximately 5 minutes per learner.
Unit 3 – Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry
This unit is assessed by a 30-question multiple-choice examination. The examination duration is 45 minutes. Learners must achieve a score of at least 80% to pass. Additionally, observation of each learner performing every technique with an observation sheet And Q/A session to cover critical areas of PI knowledge. The practical assessment for each learner must be visually recorded and is recommended to take approximately 15 minutes per learner.
